A suuuuuper smooth and milk chocolately tasting coffee with very low bitterness, forward nutty flavor and a bright finish. Due to the low acidity it would also function exceptionally as a Single Origin espresso.

Luis Pintados farm, El Cedro, is located in the village Alto Ihuamaca, is 2 hectares in size and they have been growing coffee here for years. They have a mix of Bourbon, Pache and Caturra on the farm.

FARM:

Many of our Peruvian micro lots come from families that collaborate to make great coffees. And the Pintado family in Alto Ihuamaca in San Ignacio is one of them. We mainly buy from them individually but as they all perform on such a high level there is no doubt they are supporting each other and are doing something special. Percy, Silvio, Dionisio and Luis Pintado are all relatives and farmers we buy from.

Harvest runs between July and September during which time Silvio hires a few pickers. He has a small beneficio where he processes the coffee. The coffee is dry fermented for about 20 hours before washed and rinsed, and then sun-dried on beds and tarps close to his house. Drying takes about 10-30 days on average.

San Ignacio is an area that we find really interesting for its profiles and potential. The flavours of the coffees in this area simply speak to us. There are many farmers, but some of them need some support on post-harvest processing to produce high quality coffee.
